Santorini on a budget is real. Here is the 3-day plan that proves it. Three days, public buses, local kafeneions, and free walks along one of the world's great crater rims. No Oia restaurant bills, no private transfers, no compromise on what makes Santorini worth the trip. Day 1 keeps you on the caldera edge. The crater-rim walk from Fira to Imerovigli is free, the views are the same ones people pay a premium for elsewhere, and a kafeneion lunch of tomatokeftedes and fava comes in well under €15. Day 2 heads south to Akrotiri, a Bronze Age city preserved under volcanic ash that rivals Pompeii and costs a fraction of comparable European sites. Red Beach is a short walk from the entrance. Pack lunch from a Fira mini-market and you will spend very little for a full day out. Day 3 takes you up to Pyrgos, the island's highest village, then down to Perissa's black-sand beach. Both are a €1.80 KTEL bus ride from Fira. Tavernas along the Perissa beachfront serve full meals for around €10-15, a different world from the caldera-view pricing. Save this for your trip and tag whoever you are dragging to Santorini with you.
