Santorini on a budget isn't a myth. It's a routing problem. Most people overspend here because they follow the same path: caldera-view restaurant, peak-hour sunset spot, taxi everywhere. This itinerary fixes all three, one geographic zone per day. Day 1 stays north. Walk the caldera path from Fira through Imerovigli to Oia, catch the free sunset at Oia's Kastro ruins with a 45-minute head start on the crowds, and eat dinner back in Fira where the views are just as good and the bill is 30 to 40% lower. Day 2 goes south. Red Beach, Akrotiri archaeological site (approx. €12 entry, weekday mornings before the tours arrive), then the black-sand stretch at Perissa. The KTEL bus connects all three stops for about €2 a leg, no taxi required. Day 3 is inland. Pyrgos hilltop village is free to explore, a wine estate tasting runs approx. €15 to €25 for three or four Assyrtiko pours, and dinner at a village taverna in Pyrgos or Messaria keeps mains around €10 to €15 with zero caldera-view markup. The budget summary slide puts it together: approx. €30 to €55 per person per day, excluding accommodation. Shoulder season, October through November and March through April, cuts accommodation rates by 30 to 50% on top of that. Save this now and share it with whoever you are planning your Santorini trip with.
